Consultation for Caregivers and Practitioners Working with Clients Exhibiting Suicidal Risk.
Working
with those exhibiting risk for suicide can be stressful for many. While
the vast majority of situations work out fine, there are those that
stretch the limits and comfort zone for caregivers and practioners in
public or private practice. Questions and doubts include: When do I
start to involve others? Break confidentiality? Consider
hospitalization? What should I include in a safety plan? What should I
do if it appears that the safety plan is being undermined by others? If
my client acts on his or her suicidal feelings can I be held liable?
This
service (phone or on-line) provides consultation and feedback on safety
plans for suicide risk. For those situations that stretch the limits
and comfort zone it can provide feedback and support for caregivers and
practitioners.
