
David Masecar, M.A., C. Psychological Associate
David received his Masters in Clinical Psychology from Lakehead University. He is employed as a Psychological Associate registered in the province of Ontario. In the past 34 years David has worked in child, youth, family and community mental health providing assessment, consultation and therapy for challenges related to attention/learning disorders, mood/anxiety disorders, trauma, loss, grief and suicide prevention, intervention and postvention. His experience includes teaching university courses on psychology, human development, psychopathology and suicide.
David has served on the boards for the Ontario Suicide Prevention Network and the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention where he served as president. His work includes contributions to the general literature and consultation and training regarding the development of strengths based community suicide prevention strategies, suicide intervention skills, trauma and attachment issues in youth. He has provided consultation and training on the development of community based suicide prevention strategies for First Nations, Inuit and Western communities. David has developed a four day training experience based on the publication What is Working, What is Hopeful, Supporting Community Based Suicide Prevention Strategies for Indigenous Communities (and any other community that is interested). He also worked on such initiatives as the the Community Police Mobilization Program (CPMP), a program for developing community based strategies.
David has worked on a number of national projects including the National Aboriginal Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy (NAYSPS), the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention's Blueprint for a National Strategy, Mental Illness Awareness Week and the Dreamcatcher Tour with Tom Jackson. David has provided numerous keynote and workshop presentations across Canada.
